Hampshire manager Paul Terry insists that his side can still qualify for next month's Twenty20 Cup finals.
Hampshire Hawks take on Middlesex at Uxbridge tonight and Surrey at the Rose Bowl tomorrow night knowing that nothing less than two wins will give them a chance of qualifying for the finals day at Trent Bridge on July 19.
Hampshire are the only side below Middlesex in Group South, but Terry said: "I think that three wins and two defeats will be enough to take a side through as best runners up.
"We need to beat Middlesex and Surrey convincingly to get our run rate up but the ground at Uxbridge could help.
"I played their in the early eighties and I remember the wicket being very good and the boundaries quite small so it should be a high scoring game.
"We should have posted bigger totals in our other Twenty 20 games but hopefully we can get a score of 180 plus against Middlsex.
"It won't be easy but we'll just be trying to do the best we can in these two games and see where we end up."
Terry's optimism is well founded. Gloucestershire and Warwickshire have won all three of their games in the Midlands/West/ Wales group but one of those sides will lose their 100 per cent record tonight when they play each other at Edgbaston.
And a win for Surrey at Kent tonight will mean they will have already qualified for the finals by the time they arrive at the Rose Bowl tomorrow.
Hampshire have made one change from the side that lost to Essex Eagles on Wednesday.
Captain John Crawley returns in place of Lawrie Prittipaul after recovering from a buttock muscle strain.
Hampshire: Hamblin, Kenway, Crawley, Katich, Mascarenhas, Kendall, Wasim Akram, Pothas, Udal, Mullally, Giddins.
