YEAR four pupils at Rookwood School took at step back in time with a visit from the Vikings.
Dressed in traditional Viking costumes which they made themselves, they learnt how to build a camp and cook a meal.
Also on offer were fighting displays using traditional weapons and the chance to make shields and dragonheads, which were used in a raid on the school kitchens!
The day was provided by Hrothgar and Valguard, better known as Roger Barry and Steve Allen, from Manaraefan Herred, the local branch of a National Vikings Society.
Neil Brewer, year four teacher and organiser of the day, said: "This visit has been a fantastic way to bring the history alive."
