The organisers of the Race for Hope in Winchester say the fund-raising event is going on as planned.
Following the cancellation of the similarly-named Race for Life event, possible competitors became confused, thinking the hope race was the same event.
However, the second five-mile road race and the 2km fun run will still take place on Sunday, July 6th.
It is jointly organised by Winchester and District Athletic Club and the Winchester branch of the medical research charity, Hope.
Money raised will go to the Hope for Healthy Babies appeal which supports studies into infant asthma and allergies, childhood cancer and is supporting a team seeking an effective vaccine against meningitis B.
Both runs will start and finish at River Park, near the River Park Leisure Centre in Gordon Road.
Entry forms for both races may be found on Hope's website at www.hope.org.uk/events.htm or by calling 023-80333366.
