Saints chairman Rupert Lowe has said Fabrice Fernandes' future is still at St Mary's.

The French winger, pictured above, was angry about his exclusion from the FA Cup final side where he just played the closing moments of the game despite having started 41 games during the season.

But Lowe said Fernandes and boss Gordon Strachan have chatted about things and are now preparing for the new Premiership and UEFA Cup campaign.

Lowe said: "They have had a very constructive chat and Fabrice has committed himself to the club for the new season.

"We have a lot of competition for places down that right side now with Darren Kenton signing and Chris Baird breaking into the first team. We have a good average age to the squad now. Kenton is a good young acquisition and Baird did well at the end of last season plus we still have Jason Dodd to come back in following injury."
