Verwood-based Rizla Suzuki caused a stir in the World Superbike Championships at Silverstone where their Japanese rider Yukio Kageyama led in the early stages of the first race.

They settled for fifth and sixth places with John Reynolds following his Suzuki teammate home. Both races were won by Championship leader Neil Hodgson on a Ducati, with Kageyama and Reynolds taking fifth and tenth places second time out.

There was no joy for the Sussex-based Audi team at Le Mans where former winner Friank Biela missed a pit stop and ran out of petrol just two hours into the race which provided a Bentley one-two. Tom Kristensen, Guy Smith and Rinaldo Capello shared the winning car for Bentley.
