SOUTHAMPTON'S latest landmark restaurant and bar will be opening this Friday.
Dockgate 4, situated in South Western House, in the Oxford Street area of the city, is modelling itself on traditional Paris brasseries, with live music and front-of-house staff.
The chic restaurant, seating 120 people, assures diners a degree of privacy and, while enjoying their meal, they will be entertained by grand piano music.
There is also a private dining room for hire, seating up to ten people. In addition, a piano bar, opening in September in the cellar, will provide regular live entertainment and an alternative area to enjoy a leisurely drink or to hire for private functions.
Development director Steven Hughes said: "We intend to create a bar and restaurant along the lines of the traditional Paris brasseries.
"A good restaurant is a combination of its setting, quality of food, skills of the chef and the ambience created by the 'front of house' staff. At Dockgate 4 we fully intend to exceed everyone's expectations."
Managing director Ted Wood said: "We have gained inspiration for the concept of Dockgate 4 from around the world, not only for the style of the restaurant but also for training and investing in our staff. We firmly believe that to acquire and retain good staff you need to reward and incentivise them as it is staff who determine the success of a business."
An ever-changing menu will offer a variety of British and international cuisine, using seasonal ingredients, fresh fish and prime cuts of meat. To complement the gastronomic delights, a diverse wine list offers a vast range of international wines.
