IT'S "hoop hoop hooray" for children at a Portchester school after it secured nearly £4,500 of basketball equipment.
Pupils at Castle Primary School are jumping for joy after receiving the Lotto cash, which will pay for two new posts in the playground, new equipment, 50 hours of coaching and kit for a new school team.
Sports teacher Kevin Patterson said: "We were very pleased, we had hoped the application would be successful but we were delighted when we found out that was the case.
"We're getting a coach from the Whiteley Oaks basketball team to come in and teach the kids and the teachers who can then pass on what they have learned.
"Four others schools in the area have set up their own teams, so our new team will have a league to play in."
