BOXER Jeff Mitchell finished his season with a conclusive victory in an evening show at Newbury.
The 32-year-old Basingstoke Boxing Club member from Brighton Hill was in control from the start against Danny Ward of Thames Valley ABC.
The more-confident and stronger boxer presented Ward with a flurry of combination punches throughout the three-minute opening round. Within seconds of the bell, Mitchell's opponent's corner threw in the towel to stop the contest.
The win was a great end to the season for Mitchell. He said: "I like my contests to go the distance. I was surprised when he chucked in the towel!"
Mitchell will spend the rest of the closed season working on his skills and endurance in the gym with club coach Trevor Francis.
