LIFE is never simple - especially where families are involved. Tension in the home is at the heart of Juan Jose Campanella's moving investigation of the complexities of modern life.
At the age of 42, Rafael Belvedere (Ricardo Darin) is going through a midlife crisis. He lives in the shadow of his father, he feels guilty about his infrequent visits to his ageing mother, his ex-wife says he doesn't spend enough time with their daughter and his girlfriend is sick of waiting for him to make a definite commitment.
Brought by these pressures to an all-time low, Rafael is stricken by a heart attack - and then reunited with a childhood friend who helps him come to terms with the past and build a new life in the present.
Made last year, this wryly amusing Spanish language film with English subtitles has been acclaimed as proof of the renaissance of Latin American and Argentine film-making in general.
