CELEBRITIES are a lot like animals.

When you spot a creature in the wild it's very exciting, even if you only get a fleeting glimpse of the rear end of a badger, but when you see them in captivity it's somehow less impressive.

And the same is true of celebs. Being surrounded by the big names in pop backstage at Power in the Park was strangely less exciting than spotting a has-been pushing a trolley round Tesco, even if I did find myself in the loo block with tabloid-favourite Jennifer Ellison.

The benefit of this was that I wasn't totally star-struck and managed to have sensible conversations with everyone from Busted to Girls Aloud.

Almost everyone was surprisingly nice, co-operative and patient, particularly considering that as well as journalists from pretty much every publication clamouring for interviews there was also an endless stream of young fans chasing autographs and asking them to pose for photos.

But the nicest celebrity of the day was definitely Harvy from So Solid Crew, who was there to keep his girlfriend, Alesha from Mis-Teeq, company.

And, possible in an attempt to tease her, he revealed some surprising music tastes.

"I don't like Mis-Teeq," he joked, "I like Busted - James has got great eyes and I love Charlie, I really fancy him."

And judging from the screaming girls on Southampton Common on Sunday, Harvey's not the only one.
