Fifteen-year-old Kerry and her mother have moved to a council estate and Kerry hates it.

She also hates her mother's new boyfriend.

She meets a boy in a playground and asks him to help her do something about it, but finds herself plunged into a world of drugs, violence and love, finding refuge with a family who force her to challenge her preconceptions.
