AN elderly woman living in Goodworth Clatford has become the latest victim of a bogus water board official who, police believe is targeting houses in the Andover area.
Nothing was stolen in the incident but it's being linked to an incident in which a couple from Heath Vale, Andover were tricked by a bogus workman and had a purse stolen. At Goodworth Clatford a man was allowed access to a home for half an hour after claiming to be a water board official.
The man is described as approximately 18 , 5ft 6ins to 5ft 7ins tall, of stocky build and well-spoken with a few days growth of facial hair.
At the same time the next door home and shed were broken into, but nothing was taken.
During the burglary at Heath Vale, a white man, with short dark brown hair, clean shaven and smartly dressed, looked into each room in the house after telling the occupants he was from the water board. A purse was later found to be missing from a handbag.
A Grateley pensioner was also targeted by a man who walked into her home and stole £360 of cash last week, but the culprit is thought to be a different man.
Police are warning residents to be on their guard and to always check the identity of workmen and other callers to their home.
Anyone with information should call 0845 045 45 45 and ask for Andover police station.
