What's in a name? Well everything if you happen to be Adonia Carter from Southampton, as she shares her unusual first name with the city's latest luxury cruise ship.
Adonia just could not believe it when she heard the name P&O Cruises had chosen for one of its two new vessels and immediately became the ship's number one fan.
So when the Daily Echo heard about the coincidence it arranged with the shipping line for Adonia to get to know her 77,499-ton namesake.
"I was so surprised as I have not come across anyone else with same name as me ever before,'' said Adonia, who lives in Northam.
"When she first arrived I did go to see her but that was only from a distance. To be able to see her up close and go on board is just wonderful.''
So she will always remember her dockside visit to the vessel, the ship's passenger services manager, Kathy Jones, presented Adonia with an inscribed glass vase.
"It will have pride of place in my cabinet at home,'' said Adonia, who said she was nicknamed Donut at school.
It is something of a family tradition to have unusual christian names as Adonia's two sisters are called Dziedra and Trixeena.
Adonia was given a guided tour of the ship just before it departed for a cruise to the Norwegian fjords.
The ship was officially named last month in a double ceremony. The Princess Royal christened the identical vessel, Oceana, while her daughter, Zara Phillips, named Adonia.
