A new-look information pack giving all the up-to-date information about the port of Southampton is being sent out to the world-wide shipping industry.
In the past Associated British Ports (ABP), owners and operators of Southampton Docks, has regularly produced a guide to the city's maritime gateway but this year it's all change.
With a front cover photograph of the cruise ship Oriana together with a container vessel, highlighting two of Southampton's major port trades, the information pack includes the history of the docks together with statistics on all the main commercial sectors.
Among the many facts and figures highlighted in the pack are that Southampton is...
The UK's principal port for vehicle import and exports
The country's premier cruise port
Home to the UK's second largest container port
A major cereal-exporting port and a growing force in the imported bulks sector
The sole UK port of entry for fresh produce from the Canary Islands
A key distribution hub for oil and liquid-alcohol bulks
