School exams have stopped one of Hampshire's brightest young players preparing for the Hampshire Championships.
But 18-year-old David Butwell, who is in the thick of his A-levels, believes he can chalk up a title success before leaving for a golfing scholarship in America later in the summer.
"I can't do the practice day for the Championship because of school exams," said Warsash-based Butwell, "but I'll make sure I play a round at Shanklin and Sandown beforehand to get some idea of the course."
The former South of England Boys champion said: "I'm going over there to win. It would be a great way of signing off before going to Indiana University."
Next week we tell the story of this remarkable young player who turned to golf when his dreams of playing professional football were shattered.
