Bashley look set to lose ace marksman Paul Sales to big spending Dr Martens League new boys Eastleigh.

Eastleigh boss Paul Doswell, who guided the Southampton based outfit to Wessex League glory last term, confirmed that a deal had been agreed with their Eastern Division rivals and exSalisbury man Sales.

But the transfer is not expected to be tied up until the 29yearold returns from holiday in 10 days time.

Sales, pictured above, hit 10 goals in 26 league and cup appearances last season but spent most of it sidelined with groin and hamstring injuries, even undergoing surgery to cure his persistent groin problem in September.

But although Doswell admits signing Sales could be a risk, he insists it is a risk worth taking.

Doswell said: "As soon as we won the league, we were always going to be looking for someone who was going so score a lot of goals and you know you're going to get that with Paul.

"In some ways I'm surprised Bashley agreed to let him go.

"He was injury prone last season so maybe they see it as a good deal and allows them to potentially get someone else in and it's also a bit of a gamble on our part.

"Hopefully his groin operation cured that problem once and for all.

"We also employ a fitness coach and a physiotherapy company that backs us so we're going to be going back to basics to find out why Paul keeps getting these injuries.

"It is a gamble, and there is no point in me saying otherwise but I think it's one worth taking."
