The Royal Southampton Yacht Club's courses set in Southampton Water are renowned for short legs and multiple marks - often nine to locate and round in the space of 90 minutes.
This keeps the crew on their toes but gives a big responsibility to the navigators, particularly when the five 'Hovercraft buoys' are used which are very easily mistaken one for the other.
On Race 5 of the Twilight Series, the leading three boats in Class 1 took the wrong route but put their hands up and retired after finishing. This left the way clear for a well-deserved win for Tim Octon sailing the Corby 35 Njos.
In the light eight-knot breeze a new entry came out the winner in Class 2 when William Perrin's Capo 30 Santana led Steve Sault in Hooligan and Stephanie Bateson in Blake Lapthorn Linnell.
Class 3 saw Sequoia (Hunter Sonata - Philip Williams) taking line honours plus a win on corrected time, whilst Scooby III (Simon Forbes) won the multihull class.
