A host of exciting features together with some celebrity faces promise to make this year's Southampton Boat Show a sparkling day out for all the family to enjoy. The show will take place at Mayflower Park, Southampton 12-21 September 2003.
Special highlights at this year ' s show include:
Anthony Worrell Thompson (AWT), celebrity chef famous for his role in BBC ' s Food and Drink programme as well as Ready, Steady, Cook and more recently " I ' m a celebrity get me out of here " , will be taking the helm at the famous Mariner ' s (TBC) restaurant. Book your table now to secure a place at the captain of food ' s table. AWT will also be launching a new book at the show.
A replica of the Golden Hinde in which Sir Francis Drake famously circumnavigated the globe over 400 years ago, will sail into the show on press and preview day. Visitors will be able to step aboard and see this meticulously reconstructed, fully operational war ship and get a feel for life on an Elizabethan galleon in the daring days of the 16th Century.
The new Adventurers ' Zone brings together a host of record breaking marine, explorers headlined by the youngest person to climb Everest and famous explorer Bear Grylls fresh back from his record breaking trip across the Atlantic in an open top inflatable boat.
The Sotheby ' s Antiques Roadshow will be at the show inviting visitors to bring along their favourite nautical treasures to be valued by the experts. As well as offering expert valuation from well known faces from the BBC Antiques Road Show and Flog It, the experts will also give a series of talks on the subject of antiques.
Time for the kids to get creative? Head on down to the Lego park where there is plenty of fun to be had and an opportunity for parents to leave their kids to play whilst they explore the rest of the show.
Two of the America ' s Cup yachts will be at the show offering sailing enthusiasts the opportunity to be part of the crew on these famous racing vessels. Tickets must be bought in advance for this experience through the ticket hotline.
Live the power of dreams at the sensational Honda Activity Dome. Test your nerve with the thrills and spills of the state-of-the-art boat, car and motorbike simulators. Or test your strategy skills with model boats on the racing pool.
The latest in outdoor leisure wear will also be on display as well as all the kit, gadgets and equipment that are of interest to all boating enthusiasts.
