THE glamour girls of athletics, the Frost twins, will not be going to this month's NatWest Island Games.
In a big blow to the Isle of Wight's medal hopes, junior internationals Kathryn and Bryony, pictured above, who won a silver and a bronze medal in the Isle of Man two years ago, will not be joining the rest of the team on the plane to Guernsey.
They will instead concentrate on securing places in the British team for the 2000-metre steeplechase at the European under-20 athletics championships.
The team trials on June 28 and 29, clash with the games which start in the Channel Islands on the same day.
David Ball, chairman of the IW Island Games Association, said: "We're really disappointed. It was the Island Games four years ago that really put them on the road to fame, when they went to Gotland and destroyed a top class field.
"It's really sad, but there's nothing we can do about it."
