The pop party of the year arrives in Hampshire tomorrow - and is set to transform Southampton Common into the hottest music venue in the south.
Contractors were preparing the site yesterday as top chart acts including Busted, Girls Aloud and Dannii Minogue geared up to entertain the crowds at the ninth annual Power in the Park concert.
More than 65,000 pop fans from across the south are set to descend on the Common for the free event organised by 103.2 Power FM.
Nearly 20 top acts are lined up to perform between 12noon and 4pm.
They are Kym Marsh, Ashley Hamilton, Lisa Scott-Lee, Jennifer Ellison, Harry Brookes, Triple Eight, Mis-Teeq, Michelle Branch, Simple Plan, Billy Crawford, Busted, Cheeky Girls, Maria Wilson, Blazin' Squad,
Dannii Minogue, Tommi, DJ Sammy and Girls Aloud.
"We've got a great line-up this year. I'm sure everyone will have a fantastic time," said Sophie Fenning of Power FM.
Probably the most hotly-anticipated acts this year are boy band Busted, whose recent hits with What I Go To School For and Year 3000, and Popstars The Rivals band Girls Aloud, who topped the charts with their first single Sound of the Underground.
Many of the bands were booked following requests from radio listeners to a Power FM poll. The most popular act asked for was Busted.
Additional train services will be running tomorrow to help people get into the city.
There will also be a ten-minute return bus
service from the central train station to Southampton Common. The last bus back to the station leaves from Bellemoor Road at 5.20pm.
Cemetery Road will be closed from about 6am tomorrow to enable disabled parking while Northlands Road will be closed from The Avenue to Hulse Road for pedestrian access.
