CHRISTOPHER Dennis was the star performer as below-strength Team Solent finished third in the Youth Athletes match at Woking.

Dennis produced two excellent results in the under-13 boys' category at 800m and 1500m, achieving grade two standard for both events.

He was only one second outside a grade one performance in the 1500m.

The Solent squad was decimated by exams and holiday commitments.

l ISLE of Wight athlete Kathryn Frost has been selected for this weekend's under-20 international at Loughborough.

Frost has been chosen to run in the 3000m steeplechase for the Great Britain team.

The Norwich Union GB juniors will take on seniors from Scotland and Wales plus an international select team, Great Britain students and a Loughborough past and present side.

If Frost impresses, she could book her place at the European Junior Championships in Tampere, Finland, on July 24-27.

Bournemouth's Sian Scott runs in the 400m hurdles.
