KEEPING it in the family - that's what Kaite and Jenny Wilson will be doing when it comes to ruling the waves at this year's Hedge End carnival.
For 14-year-old Kaite has been elected carnival queen and her 16-year-old sister, Jenny, will be her attendant.
What's more, it's a role reversal from last year when Jenny was carnival queen and her younger sister was her attendant.
Both girls are students at Swanmore College of Technology and both enjoy singing and are members of the Hedge End based Performing Arts Company.
For some years, Hedge End has selected its carnival queens behind closed doors using private interviews rather than having a royal selection evening when wannabees take part in a parade.
"I enjoyed being the attendant last year - so I thought I would give it a shot at being queen as well," explained Kaite.
"They ask if there is someone you would like to have as an attendant and I immediately said Jenny," she added.
It now means that Jenny will get to go to France on a visit to Hedge End's twin town. The Hedge End Carnival will take place on Saturday July 5.
