ANDOVER police have warned residents to be alert after two incidents involving bogus water board officials.
In the latest incident two men knocked on an elderly man's home in Eastfield Road, Andover claiming to be from the water board.
The resident was suspicious because they did not have any identification on them but WPc Cheryl Beasley said the men still managed to get into the house.
In the end the resident persuaded them to leave empty-handed but police have warned other residents to be vigilant.
WPc Beasley said that officials calling at homes should always have proper identification on them.
If residents were in any way suspicious about such callers they should check them out with the relevant organisation or contact the police.
"We are more than happy to come out and check things out," said WPc Beasley.
"We'd sooner do that than find out that someone has been the victim of crime."
Both men were described as having Irish accents, were aged about 30 and wearing dark clothing.
