Eastleigh and Otterbourne suffered a heavy eight wicket defeat at the weekend away to Basing-stoke.
After winning the toss Eastleigh batted first on a 'road' of a wicket and got off to a quick start, posting 70-1 in the first 15 overs.
A middle order collapse ensued and it was only due to a partnership between Richard Wilson (20 not out) and Alan Hurst (24) that a remotely respectable score of 145 all out was attained.
At the time this seemed to be at least 100 runs short of a good score, which was proved when Basingstoke came out and thrashed the Eastleigh attack to all parts.
The chief destroyer was M James who bludgeoned 87 not out off only 52 balls which meant an early finish for all and sundry.
Eastleigh and Otterbourne IIs managed to lift the gloom by convincingly defeating Flamingo IIs by eight wickets.
Flamingo IIs were bowled out for 86 after a fiercesome display of hostile bowling by the skipper, Richard Poole (3-23) and his side-kick Pete Barty (2-33). Steve Poole also weighed in with a couple of wickets and then proceeded to carry his bat for 20 not out with Rob James (20) also contributing.
Eastleigh and Otterbourne are looking to put their nightmare performance behind them on Saturday when they play hosts to Sarisbury and the second XI look to continue their winning streak away to South Newton.
