POLICE have charged a man with a catalogue of offences after a car was driven into a Fareham pub.
The Lord Arthur Lee pub on West Street, Fareham, was left with a £300,000 repair bill after the vehicle crashed into the bar area on May 6.
A man was arrested at the scene and sectioned for 28 days under the mental health act.
Detectives spent yesterday interviewing a man and have now charged Stephen Lewry, 35, with criminal damage with intent to endanger life, actual bodily harm, criminal damage and threatening behaviour.
Lewry was also charged with criminal damage being reckless as to whether life was endangered in relation to a separate incident on Mill Road in Fareham earlier that day.
He will appear in court on June 6.
Meanwhile the pub is preparing to re-open its doors to customers again after being closed for a month.
Along with replacing windows and fascia, the lounge area has undergone a complete facelift, a new bar has been installed and the pub now boasts Vodka freezers.
Area manager Rob Chamberlain said: "We are really pleased the work has been completed earlier than we had expected, we saw the incident as an opportunity to give the place a real upgrade."
The doors open at 10am on Friday with an exclusive preview night for invited only guests on Thursday.
