It was not a good week for Andover Bowling Club's teams, and in the Whitchurch league only the C team came out on top, beating Laverstoke 4 to 1. Both our A team and our B team lost by the same result.
In the Basingstoke rinks league we went down 4-1 in spite of Tommy Hazard's rink winning 28 to 8; and the Thursday afternoon mixed league were beaten 7 to 0.
Last Sunday the club played for the George Hacking shield, an in-house competition of two-wood triples. After a good afternoon's bowling the final was contested by Ken Eaton, Peter Broadhurst and Millie Southall versus Ernie Middleton, Bill Warren and Deidre Page, with the latter winning a close-fought final.
The S&D team had not played at the time of going to press, although we do have a game against Tisbury at the Recreation Road ground tomorrow (Saturday) at 3pm.
On Sunday we are again honoured by the presence of Salisbury & District versus the Wiltshire Presidents team, a feather in the cap of our green-keeping staff on the condition of our green.
Last but not least, congratulatins to Eileen and Richard Hunt on the birth of their first grandchild; I'm sure Eileen will make a lovely granny and Richard a doting grandad.
