IT was beginner's luck.
As a community relations exercise, Testway Housing decided last October to organise a fun-day for their 5,000 plus tenants.
After consulting land availability and the calendar, they plumped for May 31 - and didn't they hit the jackpot!
On the hottest day of the year, dozens of families enjoyed a great day out in Romsey.
And the added bonus for those who booked in advance, they only had to walk a few yards to cool off at The Rapids swimming complex. Certainly, there was much to keep folks amused when they weren't indulging in ice creams or slumped in deck chairs listening to music.
Early visitors were treated to a falconry display, and for the more actively minded there was crazy golf, skateboarding, tug-of-war and space hopper races.
"Yes, we have been extraordinarily lucky with the weather,'' admitted Sarah Durrants of behalf of the social housing association, "Today has been all about community involvement.''
