Paul Terry may have a football manager like role at Hampshire - but he isn't feeling the pressure.

Second from bottom Hampshire are looking for their first win in the championship this season against in form Durham at the Rose Bowl tomorrow.

The last thing Hampshire need is anything but a win following the six wicket defeat against Somerset ten days ago. Third placed Worcestershire, who occupy the final promotion spot, are already 24 points ahead of Hampshire who are only two points clear of bottom of the table Northants.

But first team manager Terry, pictured, said: "I don't feel under any real pressure, we're getting on the right track. My job is pretty much the same as any cricket coach, it's just got a different name.

"I'd be a bit happier if we were second from top but I'm under the same sort of pressure as players who are under contract needing to perform - it's no different, they're under pressure to get results as well.

"We're all in the same boat trying to go the same way and the spirit is very good, we've just got to keep the momentum going."

Successive National League wins against Somerset Sabres and Scottish Saltires have boosted morale in the Hampshire camp but the championship is a different ball game.

"We keep saying it but we've played a lot of rain interrupted games so far and have only got two championship games this month so it's been a fairly fragmented start," added Terry.

"We need to get a couple of wins under our belt after letting ourselves down in a couple of sessions against Somerset, which cost us dearly. We shouldn't have been following on, it was a poor batting performance.

"Chris Tremlett would have been a real asset with the ball moving around and the pitch being uneven but that's the way it goes sometimes, that's now in the past."

Durham play their second championship match at the Rose Bowl tomorrow in the week that their Chester le Street ground makes its Test bow.

"They've just won two on the trot after a long time without a win, they've got a lot of new, young players up there," added Terry.
