SOUTHAMPTON singing sensation Craig David has amassed a fortune estimated at £8m from his music career.
The R&B prodigy, who grew up on the city's Holyrood council estate is ranked equal 39th in The Sunday Times' Rich List of the 100 richest young people in Britain and Ireland.
It was an improvement of 13 places on his position last year.
Experts who compiled the guide tip the 21-year-old for a sharp rise in earnings should he conquer the US market, which he has been targeting for the past year.
The singer, a former pupil of Bellemoor School in Shirley, rocketed to fame when his debut album Born To Do It topped the charts.
He had been handed his big break when he sang on the top ten hit Re-Rewind by fellow Southampton dance act Artful Dodger.
David Beckham, 27 and wife Victoria, 29, and Robbie Williams, 26, all made it into the top ten.
