WORK on a £100,000 Hampshire County Council scheme to provide a pedestrian crossing at a busy junction in Chandler's Ford is due to start on Monday.
The crossing will be installed at the junction of Bournemouth Road and Leigh Road and work is expected to take around six weeks to complete.
The county council's executive member for environment, Councillor Keith Estlin, said the scheme would make it much easier and safer for pedestrians to cross the road and he was pleased work would start next week.
He added: "There will inevitably be some delay and disruption while the scheme is completed, but the county council's contractor, Caroway Construction, will do all it can to keep this to a minimum.
"Towards the end of the scheme, it will be necessary to manage traffic with temporary signals so that work can be carried out safely.
"It would be a good idea to allow some extra time for your journeys to ensure you get to your destination on time.''
