WHETHER you're already a massive hip-hop fan or looking to get back in touch with the music scene, A Hip Hopstory is an experience not to be missed.
The show takes the audience through the essential elements of hip-hop: the acrobatics of break-dancing, the masterful lyrics of MCs, the DJ craft of turntablism and the art of graffiti, creating a theatrical guide to the history of this music and culture.
Brought to the stage by Konpany Malakhi, A Hip Hopstory is directed by Kwesi Johnson, who founded the company in 1994.
Kwesi has built up a reputation as one of the most innovative choreographers in the UK today, fusing hip-hop, jazz, ballet and African dance.
The show tells the story of a time-travelling MC's quest to save the life of his DJ.
He encounters gangster rap, bogus record executives and the energy of Public Enemy as he attempts to gather knowledge and propel himself back to the future.
A Hip Hopstory features some of the best b-boys - or break dancers to the uninitiated - that the USA has to offer, with dancers from Philadelphia-based group Chosen joining the cast, as well as DJ Psycho Mantus and MC Beyonder.
