EIGHT members of the most famous team in English sporting history visited Barton-on-Sea for a round of golf this week.
Barton member George Tomkins had organised the event, which saw eight of England's 1966 World Cup winners visiting Dorset.
Tomkins has known ex-Saints and Pompey boss Alan Ball for many years, ever since Ball's daughter was a babysitter for the Tomkins family.
Tomkins used to play football himself and was a friend of Ball's father.
He was thrilled when Alan Ball junior offered to bring the 1966 team to Barton for a round of golf and to meet some of the members.
Ball, who won the footballers' tournament along with Jack Charlton, said: "All the lads had a super day.
"They enjoyed the course and thought that the hospitality of the members and staff was truly excellent."
