IT WAS a story of ordinary Eastleigh factory folk.
And now the real life drama has hit the bright lights of London's West End.
Produced by Eastleigh council's media department, End of an Era chronicles the
stories of people who have worked at the town's giant cablemaking works over the last 80 years.
The 16-minute documentary was shown at the Curzon Cinema in Soho over the weekend.
It was screened along with four other short films as part of the Sheffield International Documentary Film Festival.
The film's producer was Crispian Cook, Eastleigh council's media projects officer, who was delighted that the Pirelli story was shown on the big screen.
He said: "The stories and images from the Eastleigh site weave a compelling and interesting history of Pirelli and its people."
Crispian and director Gary Cassey attended the film event in the capital to introduce the End of an Era documentary.
Pirelli People is an ongoing project to record and collate some of the company's important history within the town.
Thanks to the film-makers it means that this important chapter of Eastleigh's industrial heritage will not vanish.
