DAREDEVIL nurse Janey Workman is celebrating her 50th birthday in style - by zip wiring the length of the pitch at Old Trafford to raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
Janey, who works as a Macmillan nurse as well as in the Andover pathology department, is appealing to Andover Advertiser readers to help her raise vital funds for the UK cancer charity which combines cancer care through nursing and hospices with cancer research.
The Meadow Way resident, who celebrated her birthday on Wednes-day, is known as the Sco-ttish Vampire by many of the patients she blood tests at Andover War Memorial Hospital. She said: "My grandfather is supposed to have helped build this hospital. He was a bricklayer and my brother was one of the first children born here under the NHS, so I'm passionate about this hospital.
"With my two jobs I see more of my patients than I do my own family. The charity needs as much money as it can get to carry on its work.
"The public of Andover and my patients were just brilliant last time I needed sponsorship and I'm hoping they'll help me out again."
The zipwire crossing starts 60ft above the pitch at the Stretford End of Manchester United's ground on 14 June and Janey will then zip 450ft high above the turf.
Sponsorship and donations can be handed to staff in the pathology department or to the outpatients reception at Andover hospital.
