Barry Camfield, challenger to become the next general secretary of the T&G union, has visited Southampton Container Terminals (SCT) as part of his election campaign.
Considered to be from the left of the union, Mr Camfield met and talked to workers at SCT and outlined his vision for the union should he be successfully elected to the post.
Among his pledges are to initiate a new campaign for rights at work and for the repeal of what he describes as anti-union legislation.
The T&G election is being held due to the retirement of the present general secretary, Bill Morris, next October.
