DREAMS of stardom enticed several hundred youngsters to audition for a dance show hitting Southampton this summer.
Dozens of children queued patiently for a chance to strut their funky stuff at the Sir James Matthews building in Above Bar Street on Sunday.
Those picked by organiser Jade Millington will take part in the Power of Dance event at Southampton Guildhall on Saturday, July 26.
The all-singing, all-dancing extravaganza will include scenes from popular films and musicals including Grease, Chicago, Night Fever and Austin Powers.
Choreographer and local dance teacher Jade promised a community-based show but with West End gloss. "The auditions went fantastically well. I was very impressed," she said.
"We had lots of young, dynamic and motivated children and my congratulations go to everyone who was chosen."
The show will see dozens of amateur performers taking to the stage for a series of elaborate routines, some based on Jade's own dance form called street jam.
