POWER in the Park organisers are responding to public pressure by attempting to secure one of the biggest boy bands in the country for next month's free outdoor concert.
Thousands of callers have lobbied the radio station following an appeal for listeners to name the act they would most like to see appear at the event on Southampton Common on June 8.
The most requested act so far is Busted, pictured right - and radio chiefs are now doing all they can to book the British boy band.
"Busted have been the most popular band requested and we are doing everything possible to secure them for the event, although nothing is guaranteed yet," said Power FM programme controller Stuart Davies.
The three-man group, who play Portsmouth Guildhall on Thursday, are currently one of the hottest chart acts around, with a devoted teenage following for their hit singles What I Go to School For and Year 3000.
Already confirmed for the free concert, expected to attract more than 50,000 pop fans to the Common, are Melanie C, Blazin' Squad, Billy Crawford, Girls Aloud, Danni Minogue, Lisa Scott-Lee, Michelle Branch, Kym Marsh, Mis-Teeq, Jennifer Ellison and Tripple 8.
