PLANS are gathering pace for this year's Romsey Show, which takes place at Broadlands Park on Saturday, September 13.
Now confirmed as the main attraction are the Devil's Horsemen, a Wild West show modelled on that staged by Buffalo Bill in the 19th century.
Other main ring events include field gun displays by three teams from Portsmouth Area Volunteer Cadet Corps, a showcase of American saddlebred horses, heavy horse competitions, side-saddle demonstrations, a parade of hounds and music by the Medina Marching Band.
A separate Countryside Ring will feature falconry displays, a farrier at work, a professional gun dog trainer, Hearing Dogs for the
Deaf, terrier racing, a heavy
horse tug-of-war and a family dog show. Other events being organised are a Fur and Feather Show with rabbits, guinea pigs and poultry, a Hampshire Harvest food hall selling a wide range of local produce, and a Countryside Information Tent with demonstrations by organisations working in and for rural affairs.
Attractions staged by local groups include an art exhibition, cage bird show, bees and honey, homemade wine and beer, the Women's Institute, horticulture and floral arrangement competitions. Improvements to the showground layout this year should enable a better flow for visitors.
Show secretary Annie Carder said: "The show is an opportunity for the public to visit the countryside near the town and have a good day out enjoying a wide variety of rural activities."
