FORMER schoolmates of a Hampshire boy who died from a severe asthma attack have planted a tree in his memory - one year after his death.
Former friends and staff joined the family of Jamie Stubbs at Mansel Junior School in Southampton to gather around a new chestnut tree and lead tributes to the nine-year-old.
Jamie, from Studland Road, Millbrook died only days before his 10th birthday after suffering a severe asthma attack.
Prayers were said and tears were shed as violinist Adrian Coady from Maybush played Be Still in the Presence of the Lord.
A single bouquet of flowers was laid at the foot of the tree as Jamie's father Colin Stubbs presented the school with a picture of Jamie and a poem, which began: "A cheeky little smile is what I give to you."
In death Jamie helped save the lives of four people after his parents followed the youngster's wishes by donating his organs.
Mr Stubbs and his wife Sharon have been busy fundraising for the Southampton - based charity Asthma and Allergy Information Research (AAIR). In July they plan to open their back garden, which has been turned into a memorial garden, to raise funds.
