Busted is the UK based equivalent of Wheatus, high octane guitar driven yoof pop. They've already had two massive hits with What I Go To School For and Year 3000 and their debut album Busted has just won double platinum status. It is still sitting pretty among the top five albums this week and their current single release But You Said No (Crash & Burn) is in the top ten singles chart, giving the boys a hat-trick success rate on their releases to date.
The Guildhall is one of the 12 dates on this, their first headlining tour and demand has been such that they have already confirmed an Arena tour to take place next spring.
The members of Busted - James Bourne, Charlie Simpson and Mattie Jay - have just moved in to a house together in Finchley. James and Matty are both 18, hailing from Southend and Kingston respectively. The 'baby' and 'posh' cards are held by Charlie, an Ipswich boy and still only 16.
James and Matty met at a gig, decided to form a band and so placed an ad in the music press - enter Charlie.
Busted write their own songs and play their own instruments, they have the imagination, technical ability and ambition to give their peers a run for their money. Don't jump to assumptions, they are not just manufactured pop and don't dismiss them as clueless teenagers.
29 May, Portsmouth Guildhall. Doors: 7.30pm Tickets: £17.50 Box office: 023 9282 4355.
