SAINTS legends Matthew Le Tissier and Jason Dodd gave Wessex Heartbeat's largest annual fundraiser a swinging start yesterday when they teed-off at a Southampton golf course.
The Saints stars were joined by representatives from some of Southampton's leading businesses who had paid £2,500 each to field a team at the Southampton Municipal Golf Course.
More than 160 golfers took to the fairways, including Saints chairman Rupert Lowe and Hampshire Cricket Club's Rob Bransgrove.
Companies competing for the best round of the day included Lawton Communications, Pink Personnel and Peter Cooper Volkswagen
The event was part of the Saints/Wessex Heartbeat Golf Classic, which will culminate in a gala ball at St Mary's Stadium tonight when a brand new Volkswagen Golf will be the star prize in a charity raffle.
Golfer Bill Webb, who runs the golf course bar and volunteered to organise the day, said: "Today is all about raising as much money as possible for Wessex Heartbeat.
"We should find out the total amount raised at the ball."
