ONE year on and a Hampshire father has produced a lasting memorial to his son who died from an asthma attack.
For eight months Colin Stubbs has worked tirelessly to turn his back garden into a memorial garden for his son Jamie.
Now Mr Stubbs hopes to use the garden to help raise funds for the Asthma, Allergy and Inflamation Research (AAIR) charity, based at Southampton General Hospital.
"The garden is almost finished," said Mr Stubbs, from Studland Road, Millbrook, Southampton.
"We want to host barbecues and open days for AAIR and make sure the charity succeeds in its work."
Jamie, who was remembered by friends at Mansel Junior School as "the smile of the world", suffered a massive asthma attack and died a year ago.
The youngster saved the lives of five other people after his death when Mr Stubbs and his wife, Sharon, followed Jamie's wishes to have his organs donated.
Since his death the couple have been working tirelessly to raise funds for the AAIR charity.
The garden manages to combine all of Jamie's interests into a tranquil setting for people to remember him by. It incorporates one of his favourite colours, blue, and features a corner with a sign saying "welcome to my garden".
There are also angel statuettes and wind chimes and a sheltered sofa, above which sits the name Jamie in blue and yellow flowers.
The official opening is on July 26 and Mr Stubbs is hoping to get a player from Jamie's favourite football team, Saints, along to perform the ceremony.
Meanwhile, Mr Stubbs is also auctioning two signed Saints footballs in support of the AAIR charity. To put in a bid call Mr Stubbs on 07932 904130 or visit the website www.ebay.com.
