John Crockford slipped further down the British Supersport Championship ratings after a lack of front end grip cost him places at a wet and windy Knockhill.
The Southampton road-racer qualified on the third row of the grid but, after a solid start, fell back through the pack to finish tenth.
It was a better day for his Padgett Honda teammate, Adrian Coates, who was sixth, but Crockford's title hopes are fast disappearing as Karl Harris threatens to run away with the championship with another comfortable victory aboard his factory Honda.
Hamble engineer Fran Williamson is just three points behind the leader, Dave Wood, after the fourth round of the Privateers Cup in the British Superbike Championship.
Williamson steered his Blueprint Eng-prepared Hanson Brick Yamaha to second behind Dennis Hobbs in a wet first race. He was fourth behind Wood, Hobbs and Jeremy Goodall when the heavens opened 20 laps into the second race, bringing the red flags out.
Shane Byrne became only the second rider in the Superbikes to achieve a hat-trick of doubles when he raced clear to win both races.
John Reynolds brought the Verwood-based Rizla Suzuki home in second and third places.
