A WOMAN was trapped in a car and died following a collision with a lorry in the New Forest.
Sheila Long, 67, from Fordingbridge, was a front seat passenger in a grey Ford Orion when it was in an accident with a white flat-bed Leyland DAF lorry at the junction of the B3078 and the B3080 near Bramshaw Telegraph. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Her driver husband, who has not been named, was rushed to Southampton General Hospital with serious injuries.
The driver of the Leyland DAF, believed to be from the Portsmouth area, was taken to the same hospital for a shoulder injury.
Accident investigators were still scouring the scene at 5.45pm as the road remained closed. Police are now appealing for witnesses.
They believe the driver of a dray lorry or a lorry carrying beer may have vital information about the accident.
