Rain meant that the launch ceremony for Alresford Town Trust's new minibus had to be held inside Makins Court.
However, everyone was delighted with the splendid new vehicle which has seating for 13 and space for three wheelchairs.
It was purchased following a successful application by Ropley, Bishop's Sutton and Old Alresford parish councils to the Countryside Agency for 75% of the £34,000 project cost from the parish transport grant scheme.
Trustee, Gareth Rees, said it was the sixth vehicle the trust had operated over some 30 years and he thanked those who had supported the funding, a number of their representatives being present.
They included the Cheriton Good Companions, the Alresford Pigs' Association and the Alresford Rotary Club.
Their support was not only financial because their members will be among the volunteers who drive the vehicle.
Gareth also thanked Hampshire County Council for all its support over the years. The new minibus has arrived in time for this year's programme of leisure drives taking residents on afternoon and evening outings during the summer.
The bus is also used for shopping trips for members of senior citizens clubs.
