MATTHEW Le Tissier will play at least one more game for Eastleigh - but it remains to be seen whether the Southampton legend will sign Dr Martens forms next season.
There have been conflicting reports in the national press, one suggesting that the busy 34-year-old is unlikely to have time to turn out for the newly-promoted Ten Acres club next season and the other announcing he is definitely staying.
The truth is somewhere in between with Eastleigh boss Paul Doswell clarifying: "At the moment, it's 50-50. Matt is going to make his mind up over the summer.
"If he decides to carry on and play a few games for us, he would want to do himself justice by being match fit. If not he would probably give us one last game as a cheerio, maybe in a pre-season friendly, but that's something we would need to discuss."
Dell idol Le Tissier caused shockwaves last summer when he signed up for non-League 'minnows' Eastleigh - just months after his Saints testimonial in front of a full house at St Mary's.
One of his big Dell buddies, midfielder David Hughes, is player/co-assistant manager at Ten Acres and played a key role in getting Le God to Stoneham Lane.
The great man made half a dozen appearances for the Wessex League champions last season, chipping in with three goals, but has reportedly put on nearly two stone since retiring from professional football and will need to think hard about whether he can cut it at Southern League level.
Doswell said: "Of course, we're not talking ability here. It's pure fitness. Matt plays a few rounds of golf but that's completely different to the physical fitness you need for football.
"At Wessex League level, I think you can get away with it, but we're going into a higher league now and the Southern League is full of ex-pros and people who know how to look after themselves.
"Whatever Matt decides, though, he will stay involved with Eastleigh. He's really enjoyed it here and has been guest of honour at nearly all our dos and dinners. He'll always be with us."
