Nick Hutton, 21, from Hamble has been selected to join the Volvo RYA Keelboat Team 2003.
Nick, a former student of Southampton Institute, works as a sailmaker at Hyde Sails and is also the bowman on board Bear of Britain.
He first learnt to sail in an cadet, and represented Great Britain at the Cadet Worlds in 1995, where he finished fifth.
Jo Ryley, 19 from Lymington has also been selected to join the team.
The Southampton Institute student first started to sail at the age of 11 in the cadet class.
She is a member of the Institute Sailing Team that were victories in the Student Yachting Nationals.
The pair were just two of 17 sailors who took part in the second Volvo RYA Keelboat selection which took place at Rutland Water SC in the RYA's fleet of Beneteau First Class Eight's.
The sailors attended the three-day training event and trialed out under the watchful eye of world-renowned coach Jim Saltonstall.
The next Volvo RYA Team Selection will take place during RYA Keelboat Training at Weymouth & Portland Sailing Academy on the 5/6th July.
By applying the proven Youth and Olympic training models, all sailors selected for the Volvo RYA Keelboat programme will also be provided with training, coaching and mentoring.
Sailors between the ages of 16-24 can be selected for the Volvo RYA Keelboat Team from a number of avenues:
New RYA keelboat weekends, to be run around the UK.
Recommendations to RYA by other organisations, talent scouts and High Performance Managers.
The National and Youth Match Racing Circuit.
