MOUNTBATTEN recently overwhelmed Thornden 7-nil in the Year 7 KO Cup Final at Stoneham Park.
The predatory Sam Melin opened the scoring after 10 minutes and then Adam Quick made Thornden pay for any defensive lapses by helping himself to a first half hat-trick.
Thornden started the second half with enthusiasm and forced Luke Williams to make two splendid saves. But James Bedwell and Mitchel Dovey regained control in midfield and began to reassert Mountbatten's superiority.
With 20 minutes left, sub Scott Bessy produced a quickfire hat-trick.
To their credit, Thornden continued to work hard and Williams was forced into making a couple of fine saves before the end.
