Saints are set for their first Cup final of the Millennium at The Millennium Stadium.
And that will make them only the second club after Liverpool to have played FA Cup Finals at the two major venues of the last century - Crystal Palace and Wembley - and at Cardiff.
To mark the occasion, the popular book on the history of Southampton FC, Match of the Millennium: Saints' 100 Most Memorable Matches, has been reprinted. This generously illustrated collection of match reports of memorable matches from 1885 to 2000 was assembled by a group of Saints fans - especially a small group who constitute "Hagiology Publishing" - along with Bob Brunskell of the Southern Daily Echo.
It contains reports on Saints' three previous finals in 1900, 1902 and 1976, along with memories of other great Cup matches and many more from the various leagues in which Saints have played.
Now available in the shops at £12.99, the book will form part of a special display of Saints' Cup Final history at October Books in Portswood Road from this week.
The 2003 Cup final will constitute the climax of a new book, In That Number, a post-war Chronicle of Southampton FC, to be published early next season.
This book contains no fewer than 10 pages of reports and illustrations on Saints' memorable FA Cup final win of 1976 and can be expected to give a similar spread to 2003 - more so, of course, if there is a celebration to be covered.
Thousands of postcards, consisting of a miniature version of this book's cover and offering the book at £5 off, were distributed of Saints' final home game.
If you didn't get a postcard, they are available from Gary Chalk, 47 Doncaster Road, Eastleigh, SO50 5QP.
