OVER 60 pupils from schools in Southampton and the surrounding area have entered the first ever Southampton Schools' Diving Competition due to be held at The Quays tomorrow, writes Wendy Gee.
Funding from the Lottery's "Awards for All" scheme has allowed the Southampton Diving Academy to organise the competition on behalf of the Southampton School Sports Association, giving free entry to competitors.
Director of coaching, Lindsey Fraser, is looking forward to the event. "This is a very important new venture in Southampton, giving youngsters just starting out in the sport a taste of competition," she said.
During the day there will be spectacular displays by Commonwealth gold medallist Peter Waterfield and other members of the club's elite teams.
